Resident and native of the city of Brest, in southwestern Belarus, Tikhonova loves to travel. After completing her education in a non-art related field, she explored countless countries and plans on hitting the road once more after a stint back home. On her adventures she loves to collect the local stories, myths, and legends and draws creative inspiration from all of them. Their combination of grand scale and passionate emotion instills her art with a sense of connection to the people she meets.

Venus Tears – Svetlana Tikhonova (2015)

In order to capture these powerful feelings, she paints broadly and spontaneously. Despite trying numerous media, she has settled on applying oil paints with a palette knife in order to  quickly express the vision and emotion she experiences. Considering the absence of sketching or predetermined color choices, it’s incredible how well it all comes together, time after time.

Don’t Turn Around – Svetlana Tikhonova (2016)

The limited art scene in her home city leaves a lot to be desired, resulting in only one local exhibition. Tikhonova has overcome this by using online galleries and marketplaces like Artist Become to drastically increase the number of people who can see her creations. In her words:
