New York’s First Immersive Exhibit Hall Takes a Break from Art

Hall des Lumières was the first fully immersive art hall to open in New York City in 2022. The first exhibit they hosted was a multi-media experience around Gustav Klimt’s artwork. It was originally a great success, both financially and among the critics. It inspired numerous similar immersive experiences to pop up in other major cities around the world. However, it appears that the tough economic times have forced the hall to change its focus. It is now offering more events that are not art centered. According to their website they are “taking a pause” on showing art to plan their next series and explore new avenues.

The Hall has now ventured out of doing just immersive art exhibits, to offer a wide range of experiences to visitors. They have done whiskey tasting with Irish storytellers, drag shows, and even puppy yoga. The managing direct of the Hall, says that this shift allows them to offer more specialized and private events to give them more time to plan the next art installation. He anticipates that eventually the immersive exhibits from other venues around the world, such as Van Gogh Starry Night, will be held in the New York venue. There is a lot of competition currently in the immersive experience market and the might also be part of their decision to diversify their offerings to the public.

In the meantime, you can browse some of the amazing artists galleries  we have and create an immersive experience of your own in your home. Just select pieces in a variety of sizes and frames to give it a museum quality feeling. We know that you will enjoy creating your own customized exhibit.
