20" X 24" Oil Painting On Canvas Monarch of the Glen is a beautiful painting of a magnificent stag in the wilderness. Today it has been carefully recreated detail-by-detail, color-by-color to near perfection. It will bring grace and a touch of wilderness to every room or workspace. Sir Edwin Henry Landseer (1802 - 1873) was an English painter, well known for his paintings of animals--particularly horses, dogs and stags. He was born in London as a son of an engraver and his talent was early recognised and encouraged. He studied under several artists and by the age of 13 he exhibited works in the Royal Academy. As a notable figure in 19th century British art, his works can be found in Tate Britain, the Victoria and Albert Museum, Kenwood House and the Wallace Collection in London. However, his best know works are sculptures: the lions in Trafalgar Square, London.

What is Gallery Wrap?

Gallery-wrap is a modern style of displaying art over thick wooden bars. It is a stretched canvas that doesn't have any visible staples or nails holding the fabric to the wooden stretcher bars so the painting could be hung unframed. Gallery-wrap is a very popular way to display art, however, because the edges of the canvas are wrapped over the thick bars, about two inches of the painting from each side are lost in the wrap.
